DoJ to review estafa charges vs Okada

The Department of Justice (DoJ) is set to review the dismissal of the $10-million estafa complaints filed against Japanese businessman Kazuo Okada.
“If upon review the DoJ sees it differently, the resolutions may be set aside, reversed or modified accordingly,” Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra assured yesterday.
The complainant, Tiger Resorts Leisure & Entertainment Inc. (TRLEI), has already filed a motion for reconsideration before the DoJ seeking to overturn the ruling of Parañaque City Prosecutor Amerhassan Paudac which dismissed its estafa complaints.
Meanwhile, Guevarra has already issued an order directing the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) over the leak of the resolution.
Guevarra also said that Paudac and even Acting Prosecutor General Jorge Catalan Jr. have granted the motion of TRLEI to inhibit themselves from handling the estafa cases.
TRLEI had sought Paudac’s inhibition for leaking the resolution of the dismissed complaints to Okada’s girlfriend, Chloe Kim, who posted the photos of the resolution in her Instagram and Facebook accounts.
