Southwest monsoon to bring rains in Metro Manila, rest of Luzon – Pagasa

A southwest monsoon will continue to affect the islands of Luzon and Western Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, the state weather bureau said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon would have monsoon rains on Monday.

The Western Visayas, meanwhile, will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.

Pagasa warned residents in the areas mentioned to take extra precautions for possible flooding or landslides due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.

It also noted that typhoon Domeng was last spotted at 1,295 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Wind speed for Central Luzon, the northern and eastern section of Northern Luzon, and the western and southern sections of Southern Luzon will be strong to gale, Pagasa said.

The weather agency added that the sea condition in the seaboards of the said areas would be rough to very rough with wave height of 2.8 to 4.5 meters. /ee
