Cignal, Vice Co. clinch outright semis berths

Cignal and Vice Co. dug deeper into their bag of tricks to outlast their respective rivals yesterday and clinch outright semifinal berths in the men’s division of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Marck Espejo and Ysay Marasigan starred anew as the HD Spikers bested the Army Troopers, 25-16, 22-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-10, while the Blockbusters squeaked past the Air Force Jet Spikers in thrilling sets, 25-19, 32-34, 19-25, 30-28, 16-14.
The triumphs enabled Cignal and Vice Co. to advance automatically to the Final Four with similar 4-1 records.
Air Force and Army, for their parts, dropped to 2-3 and 1-4 cards, respectively, and shall face PLDT (2-3) and Instituto Estetico Manila (2-3) in another round for the last two semis berths.
Espejo and Marasigan, two of the leading spikers in the conference, finished with combined 37 attacks.
