A man waiting for his girlfriend inside a taxicab was shot dead Sunday night by motorcycle-riding assailants in Quezon City.
Investigators of the Quezon City Police District identified the fatality as Alfredo dela Torre, 20, a resident of Caloocan City.
Prior to the incident, the victim and his girlfriend, Angela San Luis, boarded a taxi bearing plate number UVE-806 driven by Ernesto Paredez in Monumento, Caloocan City, past 9 p.m.
While travelling to their destination, the couple asked for a stop at a drugstore at the corner of Quirino Highway and Salazar Drive in Barangay Balong Bato, Quezon City.
Dela Torre’s girlfriend alighted from the vehicle to buy some stuff inside the drugstore while the victim and the cabbie waited inside the taxi in front of the establishment.
Minutes later, an armed man suddenly appeared and fired shots at Dela Torre on the back seat.
The gunman immediately boarded a waiting motorcycle driven by his cohort and fled.
The victim died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in the body.
Police recovered three bullets from the crime scene while a loaded .45-caliber handgun was found tucked in the victim’s waistline.
The body of the victim was moved to PNP Crime Laboratory for autopsy while further investigation is underway.
